To assist in the coordination of daily operations of the University of Missouri Campus Stores Distribution Center. The position requires working 320 hours August - January to qualify for a $4500 room waiver.
Responsibilities include assisting with receiving, order processing, transferring product, and shipping product to various locations. Specific areas of emphasis may include textbooks, general books, general merchandise, computer and related products, or a variety of all areas.
Perform a variety of warehouse duties including processing incoming and outgoing orders and/or transfers, pricing merchandise, cleaning / preparing merchandise, and organizing materials. Assist with shipments and unloading of trucks as needed. Log shipments and invoices for incoming packages, utilizing knowledge of SKU’s, UPC’s, ISBN’s, and other retail data and complete pick-lists and transfers for retail departments. Identify errors in shipments and resolve prior to completing the receiving and/or transfer process.
Complete transfer and pick list paperwork, properly label boxes, and tag merchandise.
Package product, stage in appropriate location, load onto delivery truck, and deliver timely.
Perform cleaning and maintenance of work area, including breaking down cardboard boxes, neatly storing packaging materials for re-use, sweeping floors, and emptying trash.
Cross train and work within different processing areas as instructed.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve the customer and maintain our University of Missouri Campus Stores and Student Affairs mission.
Functional supervision is received from a designated supervisor.
No supervision is exercised but may assist in training less experienced staff.
Physical range of motion as necessary to perform duties, including standing, walking, sitting, and lifting heavy weights (50 lbs. and above).
Ability to work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures and dust on a year-round basis.
Must be able to bend, squat, and reach on a continuous basis.
Capable of lifting, moving, and transporting materials on a continuous basis.
Duties imply the use of a computer and other office technology involving fine finger movements.
Communicate orally and in writing with various audiences.
Mathematical and analytical skills in order to train others, and identify and solve problems.
Strong reading comprehension in order to follow written instructions, prepare work related documents and communicate in writing.
Visual acuity to determine if merchandise, product, or logo/imprint is acceptable in color, hue, aligned, etc.
Additional physical demands based on specific department needs.
To be eligible for a MizzouMade student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri for at least 6 on-campus credit hours, and regularly attend classes.
Ability to work up to 40 hours per week, early-August and Winter break to prepare for RUSH
Ability to work 15 hours per week minimum during Fall and Winter semesters, between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Proven ability to work well without direct supervision.
Work history showing a high level of customer service, dependability, organization, and professional demeanor.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, task-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment
Previous warehouse experience within a retail operation in order to have the knowledge of inventory value, product identification numbers, and returns process to vendors.
Knowledge of invoices and purchase orders.
Proficiency in office software such as email, spreadsheets and databases.
Proven ability to provide outstanding customer service to all customers, both internal and external.
Ability to operate pallet jacks (both electric and manual), moving dollies and other material handling equipment required for performance of duties.
