To assist the Business Manager with preparing financial statements, entering financial data, assisting with reports, and analysis. This is a 10 month position (Aug-May) averaging 20 hours per week. Ideally this position coincides with a two-year master’s program through MU’s School of Accountancy or Masters of Business Administration.
Prepare, review, and publish monthly Missouri Student Unions Income Statements.
Review monthly operating expenses for Missouri Student Unions accounts and make corrections as necessary.
Assist with Income Statement analysis, including budget-to-actual comparison, cost of goods sold analysis, and other income reconciliation.
Prepare year-end closing entries and supporting schedules. Coordinate completion of year-end information and related deadlines with operations staff.
Perform other financial transactions, reconciliations, entry, and other duties as assigned. Related work includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, deferred revenue, revenue estimates, and expense classifications.
Assist with annual budgeting process for Missouri Student Unions.
Assist with ad hoc general ledger and financial reporting projects for Missouri Student Unions.
Create, monitor, and process payments through the Purchase Order (PO)/Requisition process. Ensure the charging of appropriate accounts and compliance with specific source of funds guidelines and University policy.
Serve as departmental eProcurement requestor. Review and approve eProcurement entries and follow up on issues.
Organize, track, and ensure timely payment of agreements/contracts. Assist decision makers in conducting research, acquiring price quotes, and presenting cost comparisons for determining cost effective solutions.
As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities is expected in order to serve the customer and maintain our Missouri Student Unions and Student Affairs mission.
May assist in supervising and/or training undergraduate student(s).
Participate in professional organizations, educational conferences, etc. to maintain and improve professional competence.
Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required.
General supervision is received from a designated Student Services official.
Functional supervision may be exercised over para-professional, professional and office support staff and student employees.
Duties imply the use of a computer and other office technology involving fine finger movements.
Communicate orally and in writing with various audiences.
Must be able to work varying hours as required.
Ability to work with numerical information.
To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri and regularly attending classes. Enrollment in the summer session is not required as long as the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester.
Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills, and ability to work independently.
Ability to accurately and efficiently work with detailed information/data.
Pursuing a degree in Accounting.
