Mizzou Student Media provides the voice for Mizzou students and develops diverse skillsets for media-related careers. Made up of MUTV, KCOU, and The Maneater, Mizzou Student Media offers students of all majors the opportunity to have hands on experience in a journalism field. Each of these unique outlets work together to make sure everyone is informed of the top stories happening at Mizzou.
MUTV – Student run television station that features news, entertainment and sports shows.
KCOU - Student run radio station that features the newest in music from numerous genres.
The Maneater – Student run newspaper that is an online first, daily publication that runs print editions on Wednesdays.
The Business Manager Intern will oversee the business related aspects of Mizzou Student Media. Including promotions, brand management, and sells. A strong candidate will possess an interest and understanding of sales, media and journalism. Those with demonstrated skills of initiative, effective communication, and high levels of professionalism will be most successful in this position.
Train student staff on effective strategies for selling ads
Create compelling talking points and creative approaches to engage consumers for increase of viewership and
sales of ads
Analyze and monitor sales for future goals and trends
The intern will serve as a positive representative of Mizzou Student Media
Ability to work 15 hours per week
Administrative and functional supervision is received from a designated supervisor.
Functional supervision may be exercised over student employees.
Ability to communicate and comprehend verbal and written information/instruction with various audiences.
Ability and patience to listen and understand the speech of a diverse customer base considering cultural, demographic, geographic and other important factors influencing communication.
Duties imply the use of a computer and other office technology involving fine finger movements.
Must be an enrolled University of Missouri student throughout the duration of the internship.
